Hierarchy does not require centralized power. Especially in the examples I just gave. It is determined by the community as those values which those people display only places them in a higher status if the group agrees that they value those characteristics. The hierarchy may and often can centralize the power, but it’s not created post centralized power. Centralized power can be a result of the hierarchy.

Are you stating that a person, matriarch, admired person, or revered hunter who shares the spoils, is not placed in a different status by their community?
